Also known as Kinnickinnick and often combined with other herbs such as Red Dogwood Bark this Native American herb's principal use is in the traditional ceremony of prayer with the sacred pipe.
The herb also contains tannins that have astringent effects, which help to reduce inflammation and fight infection. Bears are said to be fond of the shiny, bright red or pink fruit, which is edible but tastes sour.
