Cleavers Herb is rich in chlorophyll and has been found to support the health of the lymphatic system. This edible herb is believed to support the immune system, reduce inflammation or swelling and clear skin problems!

Cleavers enhances the function of the lymphatic system by improving its ability to flush out toxins, decreasing congestion and reducing swelling. Cleavers is an amazing springtime herb that seems to appear when sluggish immune systems are in need of the boost!

The diuretic action of Cleavers helps to flush out waste and toxins from the kidneys while diuretic actions release excess sodium into the urine. This prevents the collection of other minerals that can otherwise cause kidney stones. When blood flow to the kidneys declines due to illness, they respond by retaining water, which is why diuretic herbs can be helpful.

If you have a pre-existing kidney condition it is important that you speak to your healthcare provider before using diuretic herbs.

Studies have proven the hepatoprotective benefits of Cleavers. It not only protects the liver from damage, it helps it to promote healing with its cleansing properties. Cleavers also stimulates bile production, preventing bile ducts from becoming blocked.

A traditional use for Urinary Tract Infections, Cleavers diuretic properties combined with its soothing, demulcent action make this herb ideal for calming an inflamed urethra. Regular drinking of Cleavers tea can act as a preventative measure for recurring UTI's.

Cleavers can also be useful in preventing irritation the lining of the bladder which can lead to overactive bladder.

Cleavers was once used for bedding - hence the nickname "bedstraw".  It is believed that Virgin Mary prepared the manger by making a bed of Cleavers for baby Jesus.

The stems were also fashioned into mat that would serve as a sieve, through which fresh milk could be filtered and infused with the beneficial properties of the plant. In some areas of Sweden, this tradition continues today.

Native American tribes used this herb to support kidney health and to remedy gonorrhoea. It was also used by Native American women to prevent pregnancy.
